I'm impressed by this complex modern pop. Smart, catchy hooks buoy up the fun vocals of Mark Gibson. I'm reminded of what Reese Roper might sound like if he fronted a band made up of Audio A with Collective Soul's guitar tech pulling out great tones. A few guests appear, including Third Day's Mac Powell on "The Least Of These." Overall, Sundry's sound is kind of hard to nail down. There's some punk attitude in the tempo and drum sounds, but it's definitely pop. It's smart pop. They know the power of the hook, they play tight, and they infuse the songs with plenty of energy. But it's diverse and varied from song to song. They have the ability to fit right into CHR radio (and they do in songs like "Drifting"), but I sure enjoy their rock side better. And I think I'd enjoy hearing these guys cut loose in concert.

The songs are crisp and entertaining, revolving around the power chord grooves from guitarist Mike Payne. The lyrics, included with Bible references, focus on Christian ideas, sometimes coming across as rather cheesy but overall nice. The music is a cross between your average high-powered…
