Churning, cultivating, moving with a beautiful urgency somewhere between passion and intensity, Lost Memoirs and Faded Pictures by Symphony in Peril has what could be called "hardcore instinct." Finally, here is something that captures Symphony In Peril's intensity and doesn't let go.
This eleven track CD is the band's debut from Facedown Records. The Shawn Jonas-fronted band reveals a newer Jonas that has substantially improved since the Zao days with his vocals and faith. With its constant flow, beautiful intensity and passion and personal lyrics -- plus sharing (not copying) certain elements of Zao (hardcore), Sinai Beach (intensity), and Nodes Of Ranvier (ingenuity). Lost Memoirs and Faded Pictures is simply an excellent example of Christian hardcore. "Unsteady Docks Along the Ohio" (track seven) is an example of the band's creativity. Think for a second of the song's title; it actually captures a feeling of an unsteady dock on a river -- swaying, back and forth, slipping under you, and then calming down, then back up again.
With a full ensemble of guitars, drumming, vocals, and bass, Lost Memoirs and Faded Pictures captures intensity and passion, both vocally and instrumentally. Recommended for anyone who likes hardcore or any chaotic hard music.
