One expected more, with a name like that and a title like that...! But the tempest turns out to be rather limp... Admittedly the album contains very good tracks, but the production frankly leaves something to be desired. Sorry, PURE METAL, no favours this time round... If TEMPEST had been entitled to a production like BRIDE's, "A Coming Storm" would have produced something excellent. Because TEMPEST has great potential. With a heavy at the crossroads of Dokken/Priest/Metallica, TEMPEST has put out a very good album, varied and balanced. The tracks that stand out most are "Kids Are Gone Rock", "Games With God", "Metal Mission", "In His Name" and "God's Will Be Done". The vocals recall those of CHARIZMA, in a more aggressive vein. The guitar sound brings Metallica to mind, notably on the track "God's Will Be Done". One also notes the presence of Joe English (ex-Wings) on drums (on "All My Days"), and on backing vocals. As for TEMPEST's lyrics, no criticism: the band keeps its words very close to the Bible, and is concerned above all to be a spokesman for the Gospel. "A Coming Storm" is certainly not a bad album, but one can only hope that the next album will be far better produced... TEMPEST deserves it...!
