The Bumpus Hounds make an attempt at the industrial sound with this five-song effort. In each song, the music starts out good; but the vocals just do not seem to fit into any of the songs. The structure for each song is almost exactly the same--begin with a sample from something, bring in the guitar and music, start the incongruous vocals, and end abruptly with more sampling or keyboard effects. At times, the music and vocals are vicious, incongruous, and cacophonous, and as a result, the mood of this music is tremendously tense. These guys have a very young sound. Distortion on vocals is not a requirement for the industrial music genre. The Bumpus Hounds need to strive for more musical maturity by obtaining a sense of what works together and what does not work at all.
