The word is Oi, and The Deal rocks it from California with plenty of gusto and enthusiasm.
I got a chance to see The Deal on tour with Headnoise and various others last summer. They have since been touring the country building up a name for themselves all over the US. They already have quite a following and are working on creating an even larger fan base. This release is 8 songs full of gang vocals, poppy drumbeats, and guitars that seem to go all over the place. The album was produced, recorded and mastered by Bob Moon and goes charging full steam through each and every song. I'm not a big fan of Oi so while I can't offer any real authoritative opinion of the music, but I can tell you that I did like this CD. The music is original and more creative than a lot of stuff released by bigger labels and it would seem as though The Deal have a solid career ahead of them. Songs like "10 Cent Unity" are infectious and they all seem to have lyrics that are powerfully right on. My favorite song from this release would have to be the last one "Tell the Truth." The layout and recording are good, along with a couple of great sound clips (one is from Saving Private Ryan) to spice things up.
