Let me get right to the point, these guys have put together a great album. While a lot of people may not take the time to catch the gist of these songs, but the ones that do are going to find that Two Thirty Eight's album is well worth the money. Although it is a genre-oriented product, this disk retains striking originality. These guys have opted for a more complex approach to songwriting rather than throwing together a set of tunes that bop around for three minutes and leave the listener with the problem of remembering which one was which. The instrumental breakdowns don't just happen, they sort of "arrive". This is primarily a midtempo indie thing that stays the course between overindulgent artsiness and smart instrumentation. Good balance! And while this vocalist is no Sinatra, he gets his clever melodies across with all the innocence and transparency of Rivers Cuomo. All in all, I must endorse this one wholeheartedly. Pick it up.
