How clever. Get it? Inbred-kombinate. Well, this Canadian duo (with guest musicians) have combinated clever pop sensibilities with dirty guitars. These 14 songs have got it all for the pop-with-an-edge fan. There's the 2 radio singles "Any Sense Of Time", with its smart dual switch-off vocals & harmonies; and "Don't Try So Hard", with its high falsetto back-up vocals. Then you've got the other 6 or so songs like "Turn My Head", which could apply to God-"Because I'm so grateful to you, up above the world so bright"; "Dangerous" & "Amelia Earhart" that have similar workable hooks or a familiar chorus to other songs. There's the stripped down "Cruise Control", followed by the very airy & electric instrumental "Last Flight". "Scratch", another short instrumental has just bass & "phoned-in mouth clicks" which sound like someone needs to say "walk like a monkey" or something to the beat. Kinda fun, kinda mellow & a bit crunchy. Good pop.
