The latest EP from the Juliana Theory is a conglomeration of six songs, some old, some new, and a few B-Sides thrown in. The majority of the cuts were written on or before the band's Emotion Is Dead release in 2000. JT has always shown a strong sense of melody, starting with 1999's Understand This Is A Dream, and a lot of their success comes from the strong pop sensibilities of songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Brett Detar. Music From Another Room offers a more eclectic batch of tunes. "This Is The End Of Your Life" does a nice job of building to a pinnacle during the intro via swirling guitars and synths. A groovy bass riff drives the body of the tune with the lead vocals building to a climax at mid-song. "Moments" is a perfect vehicle for the ELO type harmony vocals offered here. The cut segues into the song "In A Fraction," as the focus shifts from guitars to a piano-driven melody. Perhaps the discs' strongest cut is "Liability." Here the band tinkers with a new wave styled verse in the vein of A Flock of Seagulls. The beauty of the song is the guitar intricacies overlaying the 80s synth sounds. When the band transitions from the verse to the heavy 90s chorus it makes for incredible sonic dissonance. As a whole, this isn't the most defining moment for JT, but a solid detour on the way to their next LP.

Maybe not yet, but the Pennsylvania band is working on a full-length album for Epic, which is due out in summer 2002 and is supposed to be their big mainstream splash. To tide fans over until then, the Juliana boys have released a six-song EP, Music From Another Room, that features cuts that span their career. Some, such as "Piano Song," were written…Art for the Ears 2002Reviewed by Marco PovervestThe latest EP from The Juliana Theory presents five different songs written throughout the career of the band. In fact, one of them was written before the band was started: Piano Song. This is the final track and as the title suggests it's a piano based song. It starts gently and while guitars join later, the piano stays there, humming along. There's a classic rock influence. This is a real…The Rebel Base 2001Reviewed by AmberThe Juliana Theory wowed me once again with their latest release Music From Another Room EP. I absolutely adore this band, and this record just added to my adoration. The album starts out with a 6 minute track entitled "This is The End of Your Life," which has more of a modern rock sound to it. It starts out soft and then proceeds to get louder as it goes along. The next song is "Moments." It's…
