This might be the first Supertones record I really like. I've always appreciated the classic rock riffs they've attacked with the ska sound, plus their energy, but I have to admit I've never played it in my car. The first track, "Escape From Reason" and "Pandora's Box" would be great songs to break that trend with. The band at the top of the Christian ska heap has actually added scratches and hip-hop vocal delivery. Not to leave its previous identity behind, however, the upbeats and island-influenced vocals come roaring back by the second track, "What It Comes To," and "Jury Duty" sounds like a track right off Supertones Strike Back.
Change is good, but too much change can backfire. The masses of Supertones fans are gonna love this. They've stretched a little, but not enough to break away from its core sound.
