Ultrabeat is the one-man-band work of Erik Augustsson, who creates, records and produces all the tracks. While this outing carries the ambitious title Trip to a Planet Called Heaven, the music he makes is - in the end - no more exciting than a routine trip to the corner store.
Augustsson's simplistic lyrics are the weakest point. For example, in "Madness" he likens living without Christ to a life of insanity; while such a statement may be true - it's nuts not to accept God's gift of love - his clumsy wordplay only serves to draw an "us vs. them" polarity between believers and non-believers, without doing either camp any good.
Ultrabeat has the overall effect of being nothing more than an ultra-average encounter, which adds up to an ultra-large expense for anyone who mistakenly pays good money for it. Take a trip to the Joy Electric section, instead.
