The professionalism reflected in this album makes it difficult to choose favorites, and I am sure everyone who listens will have their own personal choices. Among my favorites would be "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," performed by The Cathedrals. Maybe it's because I'm somewhat of a softy for the harmonizing, or perhaps it's the beauty of the deep, clear, bass voice resonating throughout - perhaps it's a little of both. I am also taken by the beauty brought to mind each time I listen to the opening track, "Silver Bells," performed by Gold City. The blending of talented vocalists and the orchestral instrumentation highlight the beauty of the bells and paint a picture of old time Christmas serenity.
When some of the best in Christian country and southern Gospel music provide you with a collection of 16 tracks for your listening pleasure, you are sure to have lots of great music to enjoy. You may just find yourself starting it all over again when the music comes to a close. Indeed, A Southern Christmas is an album which will make a nice addition to the family collection of Christmas music. I'm sure it will receive a lot of playtime by my family for years to come.
