If you are in the mood for some tasty/artsy/relatively mellow folk/pop-rock worship Christmas tunes, Come Let Us Adore Him -- A Christmas Worship Experience is a good choice this Christmas season. The title of this CD pretty much sums up what you are going to get here-a classy and nicely put together yuletide-themed worship CD that fits nicely into the City on a Hill series (without being titled as such).
The CD kicks off with "Sanctus," a classic, haunting piece sung in Latin by Ana Laura, and heads into the acoustic song of praise "Holy, Holy, Holy Lord" with Bebo Norman and Danielle Young (of Caedmon's Call). Come Let Us Adore Him mixes Christmas classics (like Jars of Clay’s nice interpretation of "O Come All Ye Faithful") and some newly penned worship pieces by folks like Derri Daugherty, Steve Hindalong, Marc Byrd, and Bebo Norman. Interestingly the song that sounds most like one of my favorite bands The Choir was written by Julie Miller ("Manger Throne").
There are not any huge surprises here, and the song selection is a tad mellow--a few more up-tempo numbers would be a plus. Of note is the pleasant string arrangement by Tom Howard, and the included devotional guide is a great bonus. Overall, Come Let Us Adore Him -- A Christmas Worship Experience is a solid yuletide worship treat that the whole family will enjoy!
