Albany, OR's Love Potion Records put together a CD of their "carefully hand-picked favorite bands," making for a great independent rock 'n' roll compilation (which is pretty rare). Simply but attractively packaged (with band info), this comp features the upbeat chick rock of Cruiserweight, the wily Wheelie, the charismatic indie-pop of Carmen for Orchestra, the Ben Folds Five and Weezer-loving Bendixon, the pining of O'doyle Rules, the rock-you-in-the-mouth Sideproject, the buzzing Five State Drive, Ember-offshoot The Beautiful Mistake, the magical Seattle pop of Wes Dando, the animal rock of The Status, the synth groove of Fisher J. Price, an interesting but raw song called "Like a Butterfly" from The Kreepdowns, the apple twiddling of Radio Maria, and the mega-synth-pop of the illustrious but infamous Warp Factor 9.
