This is the greatest thing to happen to the underground maybe ever. 19 tracks, $1. Thank you Cross Rhythms Music!!!
For beginners, we get the new electric song that Tourniquet put on their Acoustic Archives album. I've never bought an album with "Acoustic" in the title, but I'm glad this song's included here because it rocks! Reminds me of why I liked them in the first place -- fast and furious.
We then get songs off the new cd's by Kohllapse and Eloi, followed by the much maligned newest of Paramaecium. I read the less than enthusiastic reviews of it, too. I didn't want to spend $17-20 if I wasn't going to like it, so I spent $1 and got to make up my own mind (don't listen to them --Paramaecium's still the greatest!).
Again, for one lousy dollar, you can hear my new favorite band Immortal Souls, taste the new "death and roll" of Deuteronomium, go to un-black heaven with Kekal, and grind yourself silly with Discern, Ashen Mortality, Feast Eternal, Lament, Vomitorial Corpulence, and Inversion. They even included a very interesting track from a band I've never heard of, Anaemia, who should have their album out shortly (Rage Flower fans arise!). In the interest of being complete, Narnia, Oil, Sculpture, and Jacks of All Trades round out the roster on this disc.
You have no excuses for not getting this disc. There's definitely something for everybody. Thrash, death/grind, un-black, groove metal, rap-core, doomy stuff, progressive stuff, only hardcore is conspicuously absent. You may not like all 19 tracks (I only like 15 -- heavens!), but there will be plenty to draw you in. Discover your new favorite band, and at the same time realize that you maybe shouldn't shell out for Fill in the Blank. This is the best musical investment that you can make, and as I said above, I'm not taking any excuses.
10/10

Art for the Ears 2000Reviewed by Marco PovervestI remember the days you had Metal compilation albums like California Metal, Underground Metal and (my favorite) Metal Mission. These days may revive again because this sampler is a good start. There are 19 tracks on it from bands worldwide (!). 1 - Tourniquet's Trivializing The Momentous, Complicating The Obvious which is one of their heaviest thrash songs. 2 - Australia's Kohllapse put their…
