If you simply need one reason to hear this CD let that reason be Abstain. WOW This track simply amazed me. This is industrial like it should be. Lots of techno influences and still very heavy guitars. Killer track.

Beyond that the second offering by Quietboy Recordings is really a pretty big improvement over the first. Although still dominated by punk bands there is a lot more old school punk making it much more listenable to my personal tastes.

Besides Abstain, Paragon Null has an appearance on this comp. with a new version of Stealing Gravity, giving more industrial to this CD. This version of the song is SUPER heavy and really does get away from a lot of their industrial styles.

Kaosu (formerly The Vigilantes) beats the crap out of you for 21 seconds as they slay out their very much grind influenced style.

The big note here is Left Out. Yes that's right Bryan Grey and Jim Chaffin's band does in fact make an appearance on this CD. What a great song too, it's called "Still" and it just rocks.

Of the punkier stuff I really liked the track by War Rocket Ajax, very well done. Paperboy Mafia was a lot of fun to listen to, they've got a very original sound. Schmucks For You have a very Ramones type of sound without trying to sound EXACTLY like them (The Huntingtons...ahem) and have a good song on this CD that is well worth listening to. Other tracks worth mentioning are Maintenance Man's song "aa" and Craig's Brother, and New Year (this band KICKS!). Really there were only a few songs by bands that I felt were just so what you expect from punk. Those being Peabody Myers, Bomb Squad, and The Hypocritz.

All in all the production quality on this CD is a good deal better too. Really only a few tracks suffer, one being Powell Elementary Field Day, the emo portion of this CD.

To sum up, the highlights of this CD well outnumber the downfalls and for 5 bucks you just can not go wrong. If only for the Abstain, Paragon Null and Left Out tracks this CD is worth it.

    Other coverage for this album

HM Magazine #73Reviewed by Brian Vincent McGovernThe first band on here, War Rocket Ajax, thrilled me with their rootsy, mid-America punk rock, but sounded dangerously like My Friend Fil. And the second band thrilled me simply because they're Left Out (performing "Still"). Yessireee, these Quietboy comps are getting better and better. Not only are they strengthening musically, but the production of each band seems to be improving over past…
