Tooth & Nail brings us yet another compilation CD. Why'd I buy this? Well the main reason is the title/cover art. Being the huge hockey fan I am, I was hooked (no pun intended for those who made the reference.) This is kind of surprising, because I don't usually fall for marketing schemes. I don't. Really. Quit looking at me like that.
The other reason is to get a first taste of some coming bands. Like:
Warlord
Innermeans
Training For Utopia
Blindside
Why you are going to buy this CD:
If for no other reason buy this for the best freaking Everdown song ever. That's right boys and girls a single "Bonus Song" by the band, and it's one that you've never heard. This song is tight. Wow I love it.
The new bands are good too. Blindside is a fresh sound to the Christian scene with an awesome Crustcore song called "Nerve" if you like your music kinda crusty. Innermeans shows some potential, Warlord was really good, and Training For Utopia...Blew Me Away!
The other good songs you've probably already got the CD's for, like Living Sacrifice, Zao, Strongarm, Focal Point, Overcome, and Klank. This CD contains a total of 21 tracks, one song by each of the (DuH) 21 bands. The rest of the bands are pretty much punk bands, and if you like that all the better for this CD, but I don't care for straight forward punk, so I got about 5 songs for my 6 bucks. I'm not disappointed, Everdown, and Training For Utopia would have been worth it.
Big pluses: New bands, 21 songs, 6 bucks, New (and probably last) Everdown song, cool hockey cover art.
Big minuses: You probably already have half the songs, or don't care about half the songs. If you don't have half the songs, when the full length album comes out by the new band, you will probably buy it, and in 3 months this CD will be worthless.
Think about it before you buy it. It's only 6 bucks, but then that same 6 bucks could go toward one of the full length albums on it. What would have been neat would be to have had T&N give you like $1.00 off coupons for a couple of the albums. Or maybe one coupon for $1.00 off of one of 5 bands. Then they could have included 4 coupons, you could have saved $4.00 off of 4 of the 20 offered bands, but they didn't. Hey T&N think about that next time.
6/10
