I've been waiting a long time for this band to crank out some good tunes. It seems the wait is over, as Water Stain wears heart on sleeve and dirties its guitars in the crunch cycle. Vocally, I am reminded of David R. Reeves (Neon Cross). The band takes on several identities, from the progressive bass playing one might hear from Rush or Primus; to the low-end crunch of Alice In Chains. The title track, in fact, has a riff so heavy that it's possible these guys purchased the last Metallica record. The last four tracks (or all of side two) takes a decided turn to the heavier side. This effort should afford the band a sizable following in both the alternative and metal crowds. I'm impressed.
