Wes Dando live up the street from La Hoya Sunset in Seattle (no, not really). Hotbeds of 'indie-rock' like Chicago and Seattle house hundreds of bands trying to make the smart, passionate, realistic, complex-yet-focused underground guitar pop/rock that Wes Dando make without batting an eye. Musically, think Damien Jurado hopped up on caffeine, or Built to Spill in good moods -- building strong, progressive songs and taking you places while still allowing for quirkiness. Vocally and lyrically, Erick Newbill handles his chores with an engaging, boyish mid-high-range that is nothing short of delightful; discussing his life openly yet metaphorically. Overall, we have a new favorite band, now don't we, kids? They are releasing The Tired Hours on Fracaso Records.
