This tape sat on my shelf for a while. I knew it was a guitar instrumental tape, but, by looking at the generic cover, I wasn't expecting much. Wasn't I surprised! This guy really cooks! I'd like to hear this on cd--and how many custom projects do I say that about? Coming in at just under 40 minutes, this collection features songs that go somewhere. They're not just jam sessions. He sounds kinda like Tony MacAlpine--lots of runs and scales, yet still very melodic. I would categorize this guy as a little on the technical end of the performance-to-emotion spectrum. It's neat to look at the song titles and try to figure out what Will was thinking when he wrote 'em. For example: "Happy Are Those", "You're Welcome", and "Shining Hope". For those of you who were turned upside-down by Jeff Scheetz's "Woodpecker Stomp" and haven't known where to look for more brilliant playing...look right here at Will Landrum. The dude's hot!
