When I read about this band, I was expecting that they would be more chaotic. I had a vision of something like The Swing Kids, or You and I. What I got was something more along the lines of Milemarker--which isn't a bad thing.
This five piece Los Angeles band is trying to tread ground that is very dangerous--the line between completely genius, and completely misunderstood. Their sound really isn't my thing but I think that they have something special. Their music is very dramatic, and very different.
From the more mellow side with "Easy Assault" (my favorite track), to the more edgy sound of "Ex Communication List", this band covers a lot of ground. I sense a slight snobbiness within their music, and I think that gives them an edge within the attitude department. It carries them from track to track.
The production value of this album is below average. I think that was a major flaw within the album itself. The band is talented and they could have a great future, but the recording quality totally hurt this album.
Your Enemies Friends could carry a large fan base, drawing people from Milemarker to The Locust. I would like to see them live...I think I would get a better sense of what is going on with this group.
