The Undecided was a punk band from Steinbach, Manitoba, formed in 1994. Its early recordings placed it in the melodic pop-punk and ska-tinged strain of the Canadian scene, with quick tempos, first-beat stops, bright guitar tones, and occasional ska breaks. Early independent recordings represented a tight and energetic sound, close to established Tooth & Nail peers. The 1999 debut kept the speed but added a clearer pop shape, with cleanly produced guitars, occasional bop-inflected breakdowns, and Matt Fast's melodic vocals. Christian themes were explicit on some songs, while others addressed economic inequality, lust, political frustration, and the collapse of friendships. By More to See in 2001, the band remained loud and fast, but its lyrics and Fast's voice gave the music more individual character.
The band signed to Tooth & Nail as its first Canadian act. It toured Canada and the United States around the 1999 debut and played a large Winnipeg Arena concert in April 2001, shortly before More to See appeared. The band ended in 2001. John Paul Peters subsequently produced records for other bands, while Thomas had previously played in Gooch.
