Hard workin' rock-n-roll band. That's what you get in the form of Azlan (Killer name taken from the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis) who have a sound that can be summed up in two words. Bon Jovi. Not the new 'old fart' Bon Jovi that's on shelves today either, we're talking about the long haired 'Bad Medicine' days.

Seriously though this is the kind of band that could easily be booked in any bar on any friday or saturday night and simply rock the house. That's really what this feels like to be honest, bar or party music. Given that, I've got to say that it's not really something I want to sit around and listen to on CD very much.

The guitars have a gritty buzzy distortion on them and have plenty of groove that live would probably get people moving pretty good. Some pretty original riffs are thrown about that's for sure. The vocals are crisp and clean and when not sounding like Bon Jovi they lean towards an AC/DC style (but not nearly as whiny as that.) Their songs are all very Christ centered and this band is nothing if not ministry minded. The production of the CD is better than I anticipated being as this was recorded on an 8-track. Everything is clean and clear, the vocals are mixed just a bit too high.

Overall I'd have to say that this is a pretty good effort by a pretty good rock band. If you're looking to take a step away from all the extreme that's been coming at you lately you might want to look into Azlan.
