This has been a weird issue in the indie review department. Like Stone Angel, this band plays in the mainstream market and has a few things about it that makes the believer scratch their head.
Musically, we're treated to some high quality melodic metal. The guitar playing by Jeff Northrup and Marshall Harrison is phenomenal. The vocals of Willie Basse are fantastic, too. This band would have been signed to a major if this was released in the mid-80's. The puzzling thing about this 4-song CD is what's in the video for the song, "Someone Like U." This and "Love's Not Enuff" start this disc off with boy/girl stuff. The last two tunes, "Love Warrior" and "Which Side R/U On" take on more of a spiritual theme. Anyway, the video to "Someone Like U" has a scantily-clad young woman all over it. Not subtly, either. In the camera's face! So, with hesitation do we even review this band's material. Is this the metal Prince? Or the metal artist formerly known as? The mixed messages do something strange to the message in "Love Warrior," which seems to obviously be talking about Christ.

Dead Zine 1998Reviewed by UnknownWOW this CD is metal! Not thrash, not speed, not death, not black, just good old heavy metal. It blew me away when I first played this disc. 80's metal days brought up to speed that's what this is. If you don't know Blacksheep consists mainly of Willie Basse who is a big time LA producer, who has had musical projects all through his career and owns his own studio and gets to rub elbows with a lot…
