Scott Albert, the mastermind behind Circle of Dust, and Doug Mann, the producer for Believer and Living Sacrifice, have combined their talents to create a powerful industrial metal album under the name Brainchild. The album, Mindwarp, captures the spirit of the industrial movement by creating a sound saturated with the anger and bitter cynicism associated with this music genre. Furthermore, the album captures the futuristic sounding appeal of industrial music with its rapidly programmed drum beats, eerie sound effects, and bombardment of musical and spoken word samples creating the sense that the listener is experiencing a multi-media musical event. However, despite the aggressive angry feel of the music, Mindwarp has deep and thought-provoking lyrics which view life, society and one's soul through a Christian perspective. Issues tackled on the album include the economy (Telltale Crime), the state of our country (Descend), and Satan's manner of deception (Cranial Tyrant). Very intriguing is the song Enshrined, which is based on Foxes' Book of Martyrs, a classic accounting of the stories of numerous brave heroes of our faith who were willing to suffer and die on behalf of the Gospel. Brainchild musically ranks with the best of the industrial metal groups, yet provides the ear with some true "Ministry."
