Broken Free's sound is a flat and unoriginal hardcore. They have all the things a band in their genre is "supposed" to have but what they are lacking is a spark. The overall CD moves slowly and is a tough listen. The major problem facing the band is that they just don't play well together. This could be due to many line-up changes, but they fall short of playing as one cohesive unit. Musically they aren't doing anything new and the whole album sounds blah. The recording isn't too bad, but the whole thing is just unappealing. Broken Free is a young band however, and hopefully with practice and a solid line-up they can get back on their feet.
