Canaan, which is fronted by vocalist Karen Minton, put out a tape called "Neverland" a couple years ago that took a decent stab at the pop rock format. With this release, the band goes after a hard rock style similar to early Pat Benatar...and does a pretty good job at it. Most of the songs are still very pop, but incorporate some good guitar work into it. "Liar" has a cool sax throughout the song. "Out of the Blue" is a guitar instrumental based on a Paganini piece (He's the classic violinist who legend says sold his soul to play faster). It has too much keyboards and a syruppy intro melody, but the leads start to smoke as it goes on. I bet it's hot live. "Real World" and the title track are the two strongest rockers. Available at most Christian bookstores.
