As soon as you hear the chatter and spoken intro to this live tape of a gig in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., you get the feeling that you're in for a homemade project of garage-level metal. Guess what? Crown of Thorns delivers up to these expectations with these seven tunes (recorded with the condenser mike of a video camera). There is plenty of aggressive noise and crunch coming from the rhythm section of bassist Jeff Holdaway, drummer Matt McNally and guitarist Steve Siler and Sean McNally; yet the strained vocals of Jeff Holdaway attempt to soar at the tried and (dead and buried) high range of Geddy Lee's early Rush days and that mid-80's glam metal phase.
