Crucifer. n. 1. cross-bearer. 2. band from Stafford, Virginia...that belts out a 7-song tape of complex death metal. Good news first -- most of the lyrics are artistic, creative, and yet still full-on: "Waves of sorrow crash on the shores of sin/ black clouds forming, because you gave in." (from the song "Crucifer")
Now the bad news -- "Pieces" is the catchiest song on the tape, but even with a lyric sheet, you're left wondering about its point. The music overall suffers from a lack of focus -- all the different elements (from rap beats to scattershot drumming) clash much more than they blend. I'd say that most of these songs are diamonds in the rough; but, if you want something different, try this.
