Whoever said disco was dead? After hearing this album I'm sure most will disagree. Not that this is a straight-up disco record through and through. It's more of a new wave/dance punk/electro-pop/disco mutt to be perfectly honest. But it definitely makes a pretty persuasive argument in favor of a disco revival. Kudos to Cut Copy (aka Dan Whitford) for recording one of the tastiest dance records of the year thus far.
Combining aspects of Daft Punk, Joy Division and Prince, Bright Like Neon Love glistens with synthetic bliss. "Time Stands Still" and "Saturdays" will dance around in your head for days, while the rough-edged riffs of "The Twilight" and "Bright Neon Payphone" will get even the coolest of customers at least tapping their steering wheels a bit. This is a solid album with limited flaws, most of which are overshadowed by just how much fun it is to listen to. Mark my words... Cut Copy is starting a revolution. Dust off the bellbottoms and get out on the multi-colored dance floor before it stops being cool again.
