Phil Keaggy was once asked, "So, what's it like being the world's greatest guitarist?" His response was, "I don't know. Why don't you ask Dave Beegle!" While this quote never took place, it wouldn't be far off the mark. This guitar player, who once made up a third of Fourth Estate, is just phenomenal. This instrumental album shows his flamenco and acoustic skills, which are many. The man can brush, pluck, pick and bend like only a few can! And he keeps a great rhythm when he has to, as well. I just love the Middle Eastern atmosphere I hear in "All The King's Men," which reminds me of recent Plant/Page material. The centerpiece song is probably the Gypsy flamenco sounds in the genuine-sounding "Shake It, But Don't Break It." This is followed by "Jazz for Dad," which shows Dave can pass anyone musician's musical history test. Any lover of the guitar would be amiss if they didn't check this album out. Dave Beegle is that special.
