As a music critic, one has to bring up the "originality issue" while reviewing this disc. Does the Christian music scene need a "sanctified Ozzy?" Do we need another copycat "Christian version" of someone else? Obvious answers aside, most of us will want to own a copy of this for novelty reasons. We can play if for our friends and say, "Hey, check out the new Ozzy album."
"America Wake Up" is a rip-off of the Sabbath riff of "War Pigs." The title track is more like the first two Ozzy solo albums, with biting 80's metal riffs. Some of the other tunes, like "Ichabod," are so slow that they don't hold interest as long. Maybe if that slow bass line was a bit nastier in the mix...
Lyrically, David tries to get the listener to think about what he's being fed. If the music wasn't so dated, he'd hold the listener a lot longer, though.
