Did you read my review of Back in the Day which was a bunch of lost songs by Deliverance? If so you know I'm not real big on that release having given it only a rating of 4.5! Given as this one has a 7 you must know that there is much improvement on this CD from that one.

Yes die-hard D fans, you can safely purchase this CD and get one that you will listen to once in awhile...not overly frequently however but still this CD is worth the 15 bucks you shell out.

I bought this CD for 2 main reasons. The song 'Speckled Bird' from the band's original demo is the ONLY song from that demo to have never been remade and put out on some CD...hence it is the only song from that demo that I've never heard. Turns out this is a joke song and is...well a country song. It's fun for the novelty of it but I understand why it was left as a demo song. The demo recordings of the other 5 songs (Victory, Greetings of Death, No Time, J.I.G., and Awake) are all rougher than their remade versions that appeared on the band's debut self-titled album, Weapons, and What a Joke. Never the less it's fun to listen to these. The quality is low but not nearly as bad as what we were given with the Back in the Day CD so it ends up being something that you can easily listen to.

Next up are alternate versions of the songs that appeared on the California Metal compilation CD which came out in 1987. These were the songs the masses heard that introduced us to Deliverance they are Attack and A Space Called You. Now I used to have that album on tape way so long ago and I remember that back then I really didn't like A Space Called You at all. In truth it's been so long since I've heard that album I have no idea how these alternate versions compare to the originals but on this CD I really like both songs.

'Weapons Demos' serve as the next 7 tracks and are fine but if you own Weapons of Our Warfare as I do I don't think you are going to listen to these tracks very often. They are just what you expect, rough unmastered versions of the songs and well Weapons is such a phenomenal album why listen to it roughed up?

Finally is the other main reason I bought it. The radio interview with Jimmy P. Brown. It's kind of short but pretty cool anyway. This is a track you won't listen to very often either but it's nice to hear it once or twice anyway.

This is one that as I said above the die-hard fans will want to have and for you it's a good listen for the first half of the CD. If you're going to spend 15 bucks on some old Deliverance stuff get this CD and not Back in the Day you will be much more pleased with this one. Thanks to Magdalene Records for putting this one out.
