Back in 1995, a new hardcore band from Erie PA pressed a few copies of their very first recorded effort. Lantern received rave reviews at the time and the band was besieged with orders for it. Very soon the cassette was sold out and many raving fans still did not have a copy of it.
They went on to be signed by SA MOB and released a 7" which appeased the fans for awhile, during which time the plans to repress Lantern were underway. There were a lot of hurdles to get through, and the final product is a fully remastered version of the original work, with new artwork and a killer layout. Unfortunately the pressing company messed up at the end and the CD version of the repress is still not available.
The music on this cassette is top notch. It is a revisit to the 1995 hardcore scene, that packs a hefty punch. The vocals are very intense, and very insane without getting into the screechy style of screaming.
Although some metal does rear its head through out these 6 songs, I would not really classify this as metalcore. This is more straight ahead psychotic hardcore.
Quality wise this tape is amazing. Distinct sounds of each instrument can be heard, and nothing is too overpowering.
The songs are all very well based in the band's faith, and is all excellent lyrics.
Overall this is an excellent tape, full of excellent music.
