Once again from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area comes a band that's begging to be unleashed to the world. Eternal Fate has released a very strong effort on its debut, three-song demo. The tape gets rolling with "I Need My Love To Be Real," and the first thing that hits me are Steve Canton's amazing vocals, which sound like a cross between Rey Parra and Les Carlsen. The second song, "Evolution," starts off with some soft acoustic guitar playing before going full force. Lyrically, this song is a decree, asking us to wake up. "When will we end this twisted game," and "believe a lie, you'll surely die." The third cut, "Light up the Sky," sounds like a page out of Revelations. "Don't turn away now, for He will come like a thief in the night." The tape doesn't specify who is the lead guitarist--Steve Tyler or Kevin Foster--but it doesn't matter, both of them show a lot of maturity in their playing. Bassist Bryan Hilliard and drummer Isais Rodriguez know their stuff as well, rounding out a great band. I could only come up with two drawbacks: the name, and their style. I like the name, but it doesn't sound too original (Eternal Ryte, Ordained Fate). As for their musical style, although I love this style of music, others may consider it dated.
