So close, but not so far. Chosen Stranger's four-song demo has got to be one of the best quality demos I have heard in a very long time! Production is very much album quality and very clean, yet not overdone. The songs are good, rockin' melodic tunes with very good vocal work done, although at times there are certain places within the songs where things could've turned very melodic to really enhance the songs, but slightly falls short. Lead vocalist Russ Atteberry has a tendency to sound like Les Carlsen at times, but in a very good way. BGV's are clean and strong. Kevin Dunkel (bass) and Jeff Ellison (drums) do a great job with the rhythm section and Rusty Ellison (guitar) comes through with tasty stuff. Songs included are: "Forgiveness," about one who realizes his sin and asks for redemption; "Follow the Leader" deals with the death of someone's father and having him say before he died "to follow God as he did." "Deathwalker" and "Waste of Time" are well-done rockers, so definitely check this demo out! This tape finds Chosen Stranger back in familiar territory after a long hiatus since its appearance on the "Underground Metal" album. For ordering info, write: 1337 E. Black, Springfield IL 62702.
