From Kaamos to Midnight Sun was the Finnish metal compilation put out by Little Rose Productions, and it showcased many different bands. The line up was extreme to say the least. It's no wonder then that the band that stood out the most had to have been Hallowed with their clean vocals and progressive sound.

Now Little Rose has released upon us a Hallowed CD. End of the Age is a 5 song EP that starts up with guitars a blazing and doesn't cease. The closest comparison I can make here would be to Narnia, as the music and vocals are clean and sharp. They do show a speed, but never with super fast leads like Impellitteri or Lightmare.

My only one complaint is that I personally have NEVER been a fan of ballads and track three 'The Chosen One' is very much a ballad style song. Track 4 entitled 'Jesus Christ' is great though...it's basically a metal praise song. Doesn't get much better than that folks. The big downfall is that it is simply an EP clocking just over 20 minutes of your time. Trust me you do find yourself looking for more when it ends. The lyrical content is definitely Christian based, but with the exception of the song 'Jesus Christ' they manage to deal with issues and thoughts without using the typical Christian words. Don't get me wrong there is no way to NOT get their message either. Good job guys.

This is a great CD, any fans of Impellitteri, Narnia or other very clean sounding progressive metal bands need to look into Hallowed.

Just take a look at the way they dress and their short hair-cuts. Only singer Michael Majalahti has hair long enough to touch his shoulders. No, I'm not reviewing haircuts but the photo strikes me as Hallowed is a band in the melodic metal vein. Historically the bands in this business are long haired.…
