The album cover gives you a clue to what's in store for the listener of Lust Control, a chimpansee on the front and four guys wearing ski masks on the back could only mean: a. this is some serious monkey business. b. the guys in the band just aren't that cute. c. they want to remain anonymous, either out of protection for their families or because of who they really are in the music business. d. the obvious choice, all of the above. Lyrically the incognito foursome is remarkable unabridged and refreshing. Songs of rebuke ring throughout the album, aiming at Christians not witnessing enough, pin-up girls on your bedroom walls, shallow-minded non-sincere musicians, and an openness to sexually orientated issues; mainly...what else?...Lust! Oh, you want an example? "Scopin' out the lingerie, they come in solids, stripes, and plaids, cutting up the catalogs, you're saving girls in bras. Better cut it out, you're breaking Jesus' laws. Your mind is in the gutter, your head's in the toilet. God's given you your body, but you're only gonna spoil it, spoil it." Besides shredding lust, they take some good potshots at the New Agers, Madolyn Murry O'Hare and the big three letter word, sin. "Your wicked heart makes God puke. You deserve to go to hell!!! That's exactly where you'll go. Unless you turn to God. He'll say I never knew you. Unless you know Him now. Wake up and smell your sin." Not exactly Hallmark greeting card material, eh? Musically it's predominantly speed metal lite, tongue in cheek, but good; kind of like Dr. Dimento goes punk-gets saved-and joins a Christian thrash band. For this venue, the dialogue between the band members and a good sense of humor make this project work. However limited the mainstream crossover possibilities may be, if you're a little eclectic in your musical taste and want to seriously amuse and convict your friends at the same time, take your buy-four-and-get-one-free coupons to your local bookstore and get a handle on lust control.
