We Are Not Ashamed

The new tape and Bible study from Lust Control, "We Are Not Ashamed," offers the most powerful message I have ever heard. And believe me, I've heard a lot! No wimps in this band. As shocking as some of the subjects are, it's a message the young church needs to hear. But who are these guys behind the masks? It's actually a good thing we don't focus on what the band looks like, it makes us focus on the important message, rather than their appearance. How many times have we gone to a concert and been amazed at the band's flash, rather than substance? We've seen the fluff, but Lust Control can't be bothered with anything that distracts from the message. The message begins with a very simple truth that we are saved by "Grace." "Leave Amy Alone" is the next song, but now that I think about it, I don't even have her home phone number--how could I bother her? "You Make Me Puke" is Lust Control's translation of Revelation 3:15, and it's here that L.C. really starts to deliver. This is 90's evangelism with teeth! We need to stop playing games with God, and get real! If we don't, we might as well "Return to Vomit," another song that brings up the compromise issue. The guys tackle national organizations in "Planned Parenthood," the best song on the tape, but by no means the song with the most bite. If Randall Terry hasn't heard the song "Operation Rescue," he should, and include it as a street-side chant. These guys aren't afraid of any topic! Personal issues, such as masturbation ("The Big 'M'"), incest ("The Secret"), lust ("Mad at the Girls," "Get Married"), and sexual revolution ("Virginity Disease," "Victim of Revolution") find their space here. Spiritual topics surface in "Deliverance," "If You Fail" and "Speaking in Tongues." "Some people think the subjects (we address) shouldn't be dealt with in mixed, public settings. Lust Control wants to seriously address some issues that have been ignored for too long. Someone needs to stand up and scream some answers," says Gene, the band spokesman. "I have a dream that we could affect change through the power of music." But who's gonna listen to four guys in ski masks...? You will!!
