In my humble opinion, this is the definitive Mortification album made. This is the album all the other Mortification albums since then have been judged by. Pure, unadulterated death metal played the way it should: hard, fast and continuously.

Scrolls of the Megilloth was released in 1992 on the Intense label, but has recently been re-released along with their self-titled album (also a killer release) as a two-discs-for-the-price-of-one set from KMG Records, so it's easier to find now. This CD kicks things off right nicely with probably my favorite song ever- "Nocturnal", a song about the band bringing the message of Christ Jesus into metal clubs, playing well past 2 a.m. "Terminate Damnation" features the most brutal blast-beat drumming, along with the coolest vocalizing I've ever heard. Other highlights include "Lymphosarcoma", "Inflamed", "Scrolls Of The Megilloth" (complete with a chilling pipe-organ intro), and the album closer, "Ancient Prophecy".

Scrolls of the Megilloth is a death metal classic. Fans of Carcass, Crimson Thorn and Obliteration could stand to invest the twelve dollars for the re-release. . .

Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by undeadIn the history of Christian Metal, I'd say there have been about three or four classically brutal albums that have paved the way for other bands and become true masterpieces in the process. This happens to be the case with Scrolls of the Megilloth. Never before in the Christian market has so brutal an album been released, and I don't know if any in the future could match it anyhow. This album…Heaven's Metal #36Reviewed by Doug Van Pelt"Nocturnal" starts off this #2 release from Mortification with all the double-bass and driving rhythm section that Vengeance kicked out with tunes like "The Abyss." This stuff is so heavy! Fans of the gnarly end of Metal will eat up this slab of thick, meaty Death Metal. What's really cool about this song is it keeps building in intensity, almost throws you off a cliff, and then takes you there…
