Local bands are so cool. One Flesh is a local band in the Atlanta area and they are awesome. Seeing them live is intense. They have sent in their tape to the people at Cornerstone so hopefully we'll see them there. At the last One Flesh concert I went to, I picked up their four song demo. For only five dollars, you can't go wrong with it. The drums are intense, packed with double bass and blast beats. The vocals range from mostly, the typical metal yell to a series of echoing unblack screeches. The guitars are also very heavy as is the bass. While talking to the band after the show, they said that their influences for fast music came from Horde, and their influence for slower stuff came from Paramaecium. They did a good job of taking these styles and mixing them. So, if you like either Horde or Paramaecium, you will most likely enjoy this demo. Also, fans of Erase or even Jesus Freaks will like what One Flesh has to offer. Just to give you guys an idea of how brutal these guys really are, I'll tell you a story from the first time I saw them. It was One Flesh's second show as a band, and they were opening for Aeturnus. I had never heard of One Flesh but I was looking forward to seeing Aeturnus. From the second I heard the guitarist/ vocalist perform a sound check I knew that they were going to be awesome. Sure enough, the show was intense and there was a sizable mosh pit which I gladly took part in. One Flesh finished and Aeturnus took the stage. Once Aeturnus started playing, 75% of the crowd left, 5 of us were left in the mosh pit, and anyone else who had stayed was sitting down. One Flesh had blown Aeturnus away and everyone, including Aeturnus, knew it. Aeturnus broke up shortly after the show. The name One Flesh is derived from the Biblical terminology of when a man and a wife come together as one. They chose this name because their entire message is one of anti-porn and anti-pre marital sex. To get a feeling for their message, read the following lyrics from Grieve Your Fantasy.
Your life is reduced
To a meaningless act of sex
You're just like your father
A selfish coward - full of lies
Flesh - my flesh is weak
Skin - her skin is sweet
No - she's not my Eve
Grieve - these fantasies
