Here's another long-time artist making a return to the public. This guy's music has been around since the Jesus movement, where he jammed with guys like John Mehler and Jay Truax in some folky, roots rock. In the late seventies to early eighties, he released several solo albums in the light jazz/rock vein of The Doobie Brothers, Toto, or Steely Dan. Time and time again I've returned to his excellently produced albums, like Aim for the Heart or Out of the Shadows for personal worship and good ole musical pleasure. Paul Clark has always seemed to set very high standards in his songwriting and production quality. Standards that others tried to follow. This release remains true to those standards with music that stylistically doesn't vear too far from his light jazz/rock sound. The thing I like best about Paul's music is his penmanship. "More Heat Than Light" offers "an exhortation from the lessons" that Paul has learned about how we measure out grace to others. "...the iron fist offers far more heat than light." Good spiritual food and excellent, mellow rock that goes down smooth without leaving a sugary sweet aftertaste. Know what I mean?
