If you want to know what Pensive is like, check out the review of their ep, The Subtlety of Silence. I don't really hear any kind of style changes on their behalf. The reason I got this cd was for Seasons in the Field. They are a really good band. Russ and Dan from Zao play in Seasons in the Field. You can definitely hear little bits of Zao in Seasons in the Field. Or maybe you can hear little bits of Seasons in the Field in Zao. Well, whatever the case Seasons in the Field is definitely worth a listen. Dan of Zao uses slightly different vocals for Seasons. They are still good but less growled and more on the hardcore edge. Also, their music is laced with multiple vocals. It seems like someone is always letting out a high pitched scream in the background. Their music isn't normally very fast, but instead more technical and gothic. Any fans of Zao should definitely pick this up. Also, if you want to listen to some downright scary music, Seasons in the Field is a good investment.
Pensive: 6/10

Pensive goes above and beyond any of their earlier material. It is similar in the fact that mellow emo-like vocals and acoustic guitars turn into metalcorish chaotic riffs and unique screamed vocals but many aspects of the band…Similar sounding releases
