Speaking of extremely-talented guitarists, Music Source Int'l makes this video available on Phil Keaggy. This is for guitarists who are serious, whether advanced or intermediate. It is a good model for the beginner to study, but watching Phil play will want to make you give up guitar playing. Actually, this is not an uncommon feeling that happens to all levels of guitarists when they see Phil's talent. "I'm never gonna be that good."
On a serious note, this video shows the guitarist how to play his solos, making it ideal for players who have learned chords and rhythms and want to learn leads.
Phil goes over all his equipment with good footage of each piece of gear. Phil's sincerity and gentleness come across loud and clear on this video, simulating an actual guitar lesson.
The guitar playing is phenomenal, making this a good purchase for the non-musician fan also. I'm not a guitarist, but I just love watching it! It's not by any means boring for the viewer who's not a musician. Anyone who appreciates good guitar playing will enjoy this tape.
As well as instruction, Phil jokes around, reveals the inspiration and settings for songs, and explains his influences. The solos that he plays are accompanied by original recordings from the albums, but he plays only the solo or riff, not making you wait for the song to get there.
