Be prepared for a workout that strengthens the heart and soul. The Praise Workout Circuit Training video is a 75 minute workout that includes a warm up, three sections of bench and strength training, cool down, abdominal workout, and stretch and relaxation. Workout instructions are included at the end of the video; this is so that people who have already seen them do not need to fast forward through them each time they do the workout.
A basic understanding of step aerobics is helpful--along with plenty of floor space and the proper equipment. Those people who do not have much step aerobic experience should be prepared to take time to understand the exercises that are used; this will allow for a more enjoyable and intense workout. Equipment used includes five-pound (approximately) dumbbells, elastic, and a step bench. Comfortable attire and proper footwear is also important to achieve the maximum workout experience.
This video is primarily for women--and even pregnant women can participate with the permission of their doctor. Sheri Chambers (a certified health fitness instructor) is the instructor and she has recruited three other women to aid with demonstrations. One of the women is pregnant--those who are pregnant or want a lower impact workout can follow her. Chambers and another woman demonstrate the moderate to high impact workout, while a third woman demonstrates the more difficult bench and strength training exercises. The women are in different color shorts and are situated in such a way that it is not difficult to pick one of them to imitate.
The three sections of bench and strength training are thirteen, nine, and nine minutes long respectively. They are designed so that someone can do one or all of them. This is great for those who need to or like to work their way up to a more difficult workout. The cool down and abdominal workout segments are relatively easy to follow and contain exercises that feel good and work wonderfully to stretch and tone the body. The stretch and relaxation segment does a great job of bringing down the heart rate and is extremely calming for the body and mind.
The music for the workout is versatile and goes very well with each segment--during the bench and strength training segment, reggae and dance styles with some bordering on techno. The cool-down and stretching segments contained slower accompaniment, more contemporary and AC. The words for the music contained widely known scripture verses. "A King is Born," "His Own Love for Us," "Sure Foundation," "The Lord is Not Slack," and "We Shall be Satisfied" are a few of the selections chosen for this video.
Overall the Praise Workout Circuit Training is great for those who are willing to take some time and want a full body workout that also uplifts the heart and mind.
