Brutal Recompense
Reviewed by Jeff Lott
For some odd reason, I never really could get into "Raw Meat," but, after listening to "Brutal Recompense," I may have to give it another listen. This is high speed thrash with enough intensity to slam you against the wall, if you're within ten feet of your speakers. All nine songs on this tape are hot and show off the ability of a very talented band. "Praise You Lord, Jesus Christ/ for Your blessing down on us/ You give us love, You give us life/ Defeated Satan's evil strife," (from "The World After"). The production is good, at times all the guitars seem to get bogged down in the fast areas, but other than that, this is a first class tape. Death metal vocals and lots of time changes is what thrash is all about and with "Brutal Recompense," you get tons of both. For info, write: Red Ink, PO Box 2207, Baytown, TX 77522-2207.
