Not many new bands discovered today are real original. Here's an exception to the rule. After all, what kind of band could play with Extreme one night, Godflesh another and Sleep yet another? This is part of Release's history. Although, I can see the Godflesh / Meathook Seed crowds appreciating Release a little more, despite guitarist Aaron Zimpel's powerful, yet metal vocals. But kind of like White Zombie's "Astro-Creep" is not industrial, Release also is not industrial. There are as many deeply embedded hooks as there are droning & pounding guitars and many off-time beats. You'll be remembering the 5th song "Drown" well after the 9 minute bone crunching 10th song "Inject" is over. If you need something fairly innovative, powerful & pounding, get this new Release.
