I know there has got to be a following for underground thrash/death metal, because there are a multitude of bands that keep emerging out of nowhere. Add Ritual to that list. Hailing from Apple Valley, California, they have given birth to five songs of pure aggression. The music is typical of the genre: many time changes, intricate guitar work, and jackhammer drums. The one thing that keeps turning me off, however, is those "coughing up razor blades" vocals. If this is the current trend, I'd like to know why. This is a good musical offering and, if you're into this style of vocals, jump on this tape. If not, don't even think about this one.
