OK, take yourself back to the days of "Pretty In Pink", "Sixteen Candles", and "Say Anything." When John Cusack films were all the rage, and just about every movie focused on the High School Prom. Well do you remember the music that went along with those movies? Classic tunes with a classic sound. Well if you don't remember those days, one listen to Scientific and those days will start to become clearer (that's if you were older than age five during this era). Although Scientific is not a total 80's rip off band, their sound has a definite 80's influence. I guess it's more of a mix between 80's synthesizer pop, and modern day math rock. Vocally they reminded me of Jets to Brazil at times. Favorite tracks of mine included: "Great Reply," "Fond," "Mysterious Line," "Mind and Body," and "Jett Black." One thing I kind of noticed on most of the songs is that the vocals need to be turned up. I hate it when a band doesn't like to record their vocals loud and clear, I think more upfront vocals would add so much to this CD. But again don't get me wrong, I totally dug this release and this band. I'm eagerly anticipating their next release.
