Shots Fired plays a style of rock that is post-grunge and more along the lines of the original emo sound like that of Husker Du. While this may excite many, those who look for lots of melody will be left lost, as Shots Fired would rather play different and varied rhythms with shouted and out of tune vocals expressed passionately. Don't get me wrong, Shots Fired has a lot of interesting aspects to their sound, but for the most part they simply bore.
The songs "Cocaine" and "My Friend" stand out the most from the rest as the most melodic and enjoyable. The rest have their moments, as Shots Fired utilizes a lot of great sounding and interesting riffs, but simply mixes and matches them rather than going with a great melody. The sound isn't chaotic, but one that just seems to change to the point of monotony.
Fans of the older style of emo may enjoy Shots Fired, but otherwise, they're not worth your time.
