Simson is from the town of Kristinehamn in Southern Sweden. The music they play is like the American style of commercial metal without ever stooping to a syrupy-sweet sound. It's very guitar-based. The members of the band are: Anders A Ljunggren, who plays lead guitar; Jan Nilsson - bass; Camilla Kruse - backup vocals; Goran Edqvist - vocals; Niclas Kruse - drums; and Ola Ruud - keyboards. Goran has a really good voice, which is original. The closest vocal sound I can think of that's similar is that of .38 Special. Anders is a hot guitar player. He produced their debut album, It's You. Maybe that's why the solos are all very clear in the mix. He really knows how to hit lots of notes in a short amount of time. "Forced by Love" is probably the strongest tune on this 10-song album. It's got a strong melody, great opening chords and good mid-range vocals. There's a really hot lead break in this song, with good vibrato and sustained notes. Mixed in with this is a Pink Floyd-type Gregorian-style background chorus, as well as a low spoken voice in the Thin Lizzy vein. The lyrics are passionate: "Millions of souls/ A sacred war is going on/ But not against flesh and blood/ Oh, oh, oh/ People are crying out/ Trying to get free/ A spiritual Viking/ The evil must flee, evil must flee....Forced by love, I got to go/ Forced by love/ Forced by love, got to sacrifice/ Forced by love." There's a totally killer instrumental on the album, called "Wedding," which features a heavy keyboard and guitar trade-off. "Samson" is one of the memorable songs, because of the hooks in the chorus: "Have you ever heard of Samson?" The lyrics are a paraphrased narration from the Bible. Other titles are: "It's You"; "Made Up Your Mind"; "Our Love Is Strong"; "Holy Metal"; "Springtime Rain"; "You Can't See the Wind"; and "The Battle's Won."
